About this Item

1988 Vintage Brut
1 (1 x 1) 750ml

Founded in 1843, Charles Krug is the 6th generation custodian of arguably the greatest sparkling wine producer on earth. Their flagship, prestige bottling is the non-vintage Grande Cuvée which makes up the majority of their production. Their latest Grande Cuvée is their 166th release – a blend of 140 wines from 13 different harvests between 1998 and 2010. This incredible blending process gives Krug its hallmark richness, complexity and amazing finesse.

Critics Ratings

‘Krug's 1988 Brut has long numbered among my very favorite vintages for this house, with the best bottles flirting with a three-digit score. Offering up complex aromas of apricot, citrus oil, candied peel, toasted brioche and honeycomb, it's full-bodied, concentrated and incisive, with a deep, layered and tightly wound core, racy acids and a searingly chalky finish.’ - William Kelley, Wine Advocate, 98/100 (Jul 2020)

‘Deep gold. Savoury golden nose somehow, with tiny beads slightly struggling to reach the surface. The opposite of rich! Very Krug. Pleasure and almost pain. An intellectual wine with an amazingly long aftertaste.’ - Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Nov 2018)
