A Japanese ivory okimono of a fisherman, Meiji period, 1868-1912
modelled standing, in traditional attire, a covered basket roped to his left hip, the left hand clutching a small fish, on an oval base stylised with three tree stumps, lacking attribute, signed, 18,5cm high; and another, of a vendor, carved crouching, with agonised expression, his right arm raised, his left with open hand, a slab of stone on a tree stump to his left, his bowl and mixing staff toppled to the ground, losses, signed, red-character marks, 10cm high
