About this Item
Boekenhoutskloof, located in the Franschhoek valley, was established in 1776 and gets its name 'Boekenhout' from an indigenous Beech tree. Boekenhoutskloof, managed by Marc Kent, describes themself as a Syrah specialist. Their efforts in conservation can be seen through initiatives they have taken-on in their farm and surrounding areas. They are also a founding member of the Franschhoek Mountain Conservancy.
Boekenhoutskloof leaped onto the scene with an iconic, new wave, Platter 5-star 1997 Syrah and is now well established as one of the Cape’s top growers. Maverick spirit, Marc Kent continues to be the driving force behind this dynamic property, co-founded by the similarly innovative late Tim Rands. Produced from a single vineyard in Wellington, the 2002 vintage was yet another Platter 5-star wine, by now well established as one of the top expressions of Syrah from the Cape.

Critics Ratings
“Sensitive vintage appreciation, consistency, understanding of site character all benefits of Marc Kent’s long-term association with this old Wellington vineyard. 2002 in usual full-blooded style. Brooding, dark berries, meaty intensity, dense mouth coating richness with focus, freshness from delicious savoury acid core. Individually heightened by traditional vinification; native yeasts, only used French oak, 27 months.” - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2005, 5*
