His 2009 release of old-vine, single-vineyard wines was a ground-breaking initiative in reviving forgotten, century-old vineyards. The first vintages of Skurfberg, Kokerboom, Pofadder and T'Voetpad along with the once-off Eselshoek and legendary Mev. Kirsten are the rarest modern South African wines.
