About this Item

2005 Pomerol
2 (1 x 2) 750ml

The 4.5-hectare Château Hosanna is located in the heart of Pomerol and neighbours some of the most illustrious châteaux in Bordeaux, including Lafleur, Petrus, La Fleur-Pétrus and Vieux Château Certan. Formerly known as Château Certan Giraud, Château Hosanna has been considered one of Pomeol’s premier crus for over 70 years. In 1999, the estate was acquired by local wine merchant Jean-Pierre Moueix. Including a parcel of Cabernet Franc vines planted in 1956, the vineyard’s red gravel and clay soils produce wines of great elegance with complexity and power.

Critics Ratings

‘This is an absolutely spectacular effort from Christian Moueix’s tiny jewel in Pomerol – Hosanna. An extraordinary nose of blue and black fruits, floral notes, licorice, and truffle soars from the glass of this dense purple wine. A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, this wine often has the most complex set of aromatics of any Pomerol. Velvety tannins, a multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and stunning finish give this full-bodied, extravagantly rich wine accessibility now, but it is certainly capable of lasting 25 or more years. Sadly, there are only 1,200 cases of this.’ - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 98/100 (Jun 2015)

‘Dark in color, with lots of blackberry, jam and dark chocolate aromas. Full-bodied and tight, yet powerful, with velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. Like a tightly wound ball of silk thread. Best after 2014.’ - James Suckling, Wine Spectator, 96/100 (Mar 2008)
