Critics Ratings

2011 showed some attractive menthol/herbal notes. And while the nose is quite bold the palate is quite tight, with structure balancing the delicious generous fruit, the end is vibrant clean, yet juicy and long.’ – James Pietersen 2020, 91/100

‘The 2011 Syrah undergoes malolactic in barriques raised for 26 months in second-fill French oak barriques and 28% in foudres. The bouquet is tightly wound at first, but soon unfolds to offer scents of raspberry preserve, undergrowth, white pepper and touches of white fennel. The palate is very well-balanced with a crisp line of acidity. This feels vibrant and full of energy in the mouth, the tannins supple but with complex white pepper, fennel, sage and rosemary notes toward the very Northern Rhône-like finish. Superb, but grace it with a couple of years in bottle.’ – Neal Martin, Robertparker.com, 92/100 (2014)

‘A fresh style, with damson plum, bitter cherry and anise notes enlivened with a hint of white pepper. Lovely sanguine and dark olive accents grace the finish. The lingering fruit shows latent length and subtle depth, so let this fill out with cellaring.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (2014)
