About this Item
Boekenhoutskloof, located in the Franschhoek valley, was established in 1776 and gets its name 'Boekenhout' from an indigenous Beech tree. Boekenhoutskloof, managed by Marc Kent, describes themself as a Syrah specialist. Their efforts in conservation can be seen through initiatives they have taken-on in their farm and surrounding areas. They are also a founding member of the Franschhoek Mountain Conservancy.

Critics Ratings
‘Aromatic perfumed fantail of floral pot-pourri, red fruit and ground pepper. More Northern-Rhone in make up than its immediate more bulky predecessors, although it is by no means less generous or plush. Perfect drinking condition.’ – Higgo Jacobs 2020, 94/100
‘Red-ruby. Northern Rhone-like aromas of raspberry, pepper, smoked meat and woodsmoke. Intensely flavored, vibrant and firm, with raspberry, smoked meat, iron, mocha and tobacco notes. Very suave, juicy syrah, finishing with fine tannins and impressive length.’ – Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com, 90/100 (2003)
