Critics Ratings
‘More conservatively styled than siblings perhaps, now from 30+ yr old vines. 01’s spicy, tobacco, berry bouquet/palate cooperate with firm ripe tannins to offer youthfully fine, sternly elegant profile. 14% alc; 2 yrs Fr oak, half new. Needs & deserves good few years to give of its best.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2005, 4*
'Medium red-ruby. aromas of currant, cherry, tobacco, licorice, fresh herbs, tea leaf and smoky oak. Juicy, leanish and youthfully closed, with notes of currant, leather, tobacco, game and herbs. Finishes classically dry, with a firm tannic spine for aging. From vines around 20 years of age. This calls for four or five years of patience' - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 88+/100 (Mar 2005)
