About this Item
Le Riche was founded in 1996 by Etienne le Riche, one of the founding members of the Cape Winemakers Guild (CWG). Situated on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, it is now run by Etienne’s son, Christo and daughter, Yvonne. Le Riche are known for premium red wines in a classic South African style. Grapes are selected from top growers in Stellenbosch, coming from mainly two soil types – decomposed granite soils and sandy gravel. The winemaking approach is traditionally simplistic, yet innovative.
The Le Riche Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a limited production of their very best and has since become a New World benchmark. 2009 is one of the finest modern-day Stellenbosch vintages, a wine of dense fruit and power.

‘The tannin structure is a marvel of succulent moreishness.’ Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2013, 4.5*
'The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a selection of the best hand-picked grapes and sees 70% in new French oak. It has a McClaren Vale inspired bouquet of copious black fruits laced with crème de cassis and menthol. The palate is full-bodied with succulent ripe blackberries, cassis and orange-peel. It is well defined with fine tannins and very good weight on the finish. This is certainly a level up from the regular Cabernet. Drink 2013-2020' - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 90/100 (Dec 2012)
