On the crest of the Helshoogte Pass is the picturesque wine farm of Tokara owned by ex-banker GT Ferreira. Tokara’s first vines were planted in 1998 with a state-of-the-art winery erected shortly thereafter. Tokara has been consistently recognised as one of South Africa's top wineries.

'The nose is one of the best I encountered from Tokara on this visit with vivid blackberry, boysenberry and floral scents, almost as if there were a splash of Syrah in the blend. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, well-judged acidity, cedar and sandalwood infusing the black fruit that segues into a Chinese five-spice tinged finish.
