About this Item

2004 V
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

With a history dating back over 300 years, Vergelegen has kept a simple winemaking philosophy this entire time, ‘there must be harmony between the old and the new’. Having produced fine, modern wines for two decades, Vergelegen is one of South Africa’s highest regarded, established producers. Situated on the Schaapenberg in Somerset West, overlooking False Bay. The 3,000 hectare estate is situated in one of the richest floral regions of the world and they practice sustainable farming and have various environmental projects.

The flagship V is a Cabernet Sauvignon carefully selected from their Stonepine and Rondekop vineyards.

Critics Ratings

'Complete palate, clever winemaking but still lots of tannins in evidence. This is one to cellar, not drink and may well develop into something lovely. The corsetry is still a bit obvious but it did open out in the glass impressively.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5+/20 (Feb 2008)

'Bright red-ruby. Aromas of currant, graphite, coffee, dark chocolate and clove; lots of sexy new oak showing. Lush and silky on entry, but has enough acidity to frame and enliven its deep flavors of currant and graphite. This bottling represents a distinctly an intentionally modern style for Vergelegen, but also boasts very good structure and verve. Finishes long and brooding, with palate-saturating flavors and broad, noble tannins.' - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 92/100 (Mar 2009)
