About this Item

2012 Botmaskop
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Nestled between majestic mountains on the Helshoogte pass, Delaire was established by John and Erica Platter in the early 1980s and is now one of the jewels in the Cape Winelands. Current owner, luxury brand mogul, Laurence Graff, has transformed the 'vineyards in the clouds' into a Cape art, hospitality and wine destination bar none. Under the auspice of winemaker Morne Vrey, Delaire Graff has amassed a host of awards and is listed as a ‘first growth’ producer by Tim Atkin MW.

Used as a lookout point for ships entering Table Bay harbour, the crest of this pass lay upon the slopes of the crucial peak named Botmaskop upon which Delaire Graff Estate is now nestled. Since the very first vintage In 1998, the Botmaskop has won numerous awards locally and internationally.

Critics Ratings

‘Sourced mainly from one block in Stellenbosch, this Cabernet-dominated blend of the five Bordeaux varieties is a super silky red that would easily slot into a line-up of Margaux wines. Complex, long and stylish with beautifully judged tannins. Hugely impressive. Drink: 2015-22.’ - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2015, 95/100

‘Massive & intense, with brooding black fruit on noble liquorice-toned structure, Bordeaux-shiraz blend 2012 follows spectacular form of 2011. Very youthful but showing finesse & potential suppleness though unsettled tannins & somewhat wild vinosity.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide, 5* (2015)
