About this Item
This leading Bordeaux Chateau dates back to the 14th century. The estate is located at the southern edge of Pauillac, bordering the St. Julien vineyards of Ch. Léoville Las Cases. It was purchased in 1993 by the French industrialist François Pinault, whose empire was to grow to include Yves St. Laurent, Gucci and Christie’s Auction House. Président, Frédéric Engerer, under whose stewardship a major programme of investment has taken place, has seen Latour rise to an undisputed pre-eminent position in the Bordeaux wine hierarchy.

'Another underrated vintage for this estate, the 2008 Léoville Las Cases is a vibrant, youthfully primary wine that's aging at a slower pace than the 2009. Unfurling to reveal aromas of dark berries and cherries mingled with subtle hints of pencil shavings and nicely integrated new oak, it's medium to full-bodied, taut and layered, with tangy acids, ripe tannins and a long, penetrating finish. Displaying compelling purity and energy, it's a serious Las Cases that will richly reward the patient but which is still some way away from its drinking window.' - William Kelley, Wine Advocate, 95+/100 (Aug 2022)
'94-96 Barrel sample. A seriously dense and solid wine, that is however balanced with fruity acidity. The ripe tannins march comfortably with the fruit. This is a wonderfully rich wine, the juicy fruit giving an extra to the structure.' - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 95/100 (Dec 2009)
'This is loaded for the vintage, with layer upon layer of crushed blackberry, fig paste and mulled black currant offset by smoldering tobacco, charcoal and anise notes. The finish is all iron and roasted earth for now, with the density to be among the longest-lived wines of the vintage. Best from 2013 through 2023.' - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 94/100 (Apr 2011)
