About this Item
Anysbos, situated in Botriver, was established by Johan and Sue Heyns. It is a passion-driven project focused on Grenache Noir and, together with the expert winemaking skills of Marelise Niemann of Momento Wines, the aim is to produce small-batch wines that not only reflect the region but, most importantly, are sustainable and water-wise.
The Anysbos estate is a nearly 400 hectare farm that is home to olive groves, goats, and 24 hectares of vines, from which just two wines are made: ‘DisDit’ (a white blend) and this red blend, ‘Tesame.’ The name means “together” in Afrikaans, and symbolizes the beautiful, breathing organism that is a farm estate, all the plants and crops and animals living together in a Botrivier paradise.

Critics Ratings
‘The 2019 consists of 70% Chenin Blanc, 29% Roussanne and 1% Grenache Blanc. The nose shows some struck-match reduction before white and yellow fruit, herbs and earth. The palate has excellent fruit purity, electric acidity and a super-long finish. I tasted it next to Rocking Horse 2019 from Thorne & Daughters and there was nothing to choose between the two in terms of sheer quality. All of a piece and super-detailed, it’s really worth seeking out.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 97/100 (Jun 2020)
‘The first time I tasted the 2017 Disdit white blend I was blown away. So what to expect from the follow-up 2019? Predictably the wine shows much more tension, flinty reduction and impressive minerality like many top SA 2019 whites. The aromatics reveal a complex melange of white citrus, wet thatch, dried herbs, fresh fennel, yellow pithy orchard fruits and a curiously alluring, earthy mineral undertone. The palate fruit expression is cool and tightly wound showing a herbal intensity, pithy white peaches, savoury buttery notes and a vibrant, fresh textured finish. Very impressive indeed! Pop this in the cellar for 1-3 years before pulling the cork.’ – Greg Sherwood, 95+/100 (Aug 2021)
‘Intricate, understated yet persistent 2019, chenin (70%) with roussanne & drop grenache blanc, wild ferment/10 months in old oak, layers of baked apple, honey & lanolin, with a pervasive thread of lemon acidity. Still unfolding, allow time to fully bloom.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2021, 4.5* (94/100)
‘Marelise Niemann of Momento is the consultant winemaker here, combining Chenin Blanc with 30% Roussanne and Grenache Blanc in a Loire-meets-the-Rhône-Valley blend. Naturally fermented with lees contact adding some weight, it's an oatmealy, herbal white with bright, tangy acidity. 2020-24’ - Tim Atkin SA Special Report 2020, 90/100
