About this Item
Established in 2007 by the dynamic husband-and-wife team, Chris and Andrea Mullineux have, in a very short space of time, established Mullineux as one of South Africa’s most celebrated producers. Their track record speaks for itself: Awarded Wine Enthusiast’s International Winemaker of the Year in 2016, Tim Atkin’s SA Winemakers of the Year in 2017 and Five times Platter's Winery of the Year (2014, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2023).
This 55 year old heritage vineyard grown on the granite soils of the Paardeberg is one of the rarest variants of Semillon as it only develops its “Gris” characteristics after 30 years. The grapes are hand-picked and then whole bunch pressed to French oak barrels for natural fermentation. 'I chose this as my CWG wine for its rarity, intrigue and harmony.' Andrea Mullineux

Critics Ratings
'It has a sensual, honeyed bouquet with honeysuckle, jasmine, stone fruit such as nectarine and white peach, later lanolin – very mercurial becoming more and more like a white Châteauneuf du Pape. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity cutting through the waxy fruit – more a textural than fruit-driven wine – but what a lovely texture!' – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 92/100 (Oct 2014)
'Bright pale lemon. Quite obviously perfumed. Lively and lightly medicinal. Edgy and very lightly oily but lots of fun. Complex.' – Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Jan 2015)
'Gorgeous nectarine, freshly sliced ginger, singed almond and tangerine notes are layered here, giving way to a hint of spiced apple. Juicy and flattering, this should be a crowd-pleaser with brief cellaring. Drink now.' – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 90/100 (Dec 2014)
