A pair of Chinese Canton famille-rose vases, Qing Dynasty, 19th century
each baluster body enamelled with panels of court scenes, enclosed by borders of bats, fish and flowerheads, with further panels of figures at various pursuits enclosed by flowerheads, butterflies and Buddhist emblems, with petal-shaped collar, the neck and shoulders similarly enamelled and applied with two pairs of gilt chilong and a pair of gilt dog-of-fo contesting an iron-red ball, the petal-shaped rim enamelled with further blooms, each vase fixed to its stand, the whole48,2cm high
