About this Item

2011 Pessac Leognan Blanc
3 (1 x 3) 750ml

In its early days, Château de Fieuzal was owned by the Griffon family whose ties to the Pope Leon XIII in Bordeaux afforded them the opportunity to fill the Vatican’s cellars with their wines and bolster their brand. The château was then bought by the Ricard family who then owned many Bordeaux estates, including Domaine de Chevalier and Château Malartic-Lagraviere. Today, Château de Fieuzal is under the custodianship of Lochlann Quinn. In 2006, de Fieuzal added Hubert de Bouard to their team as their consultant and, a year later, Stephen Carrier joined as their winemaker and director. After years of expanding their estate, Château de Fieuzal is now one of the largest Classified Growths in the appellation.

Critics Ratings

‘Bright gold-tinged straw. Ripe, fresh aromas of white stone fruit, anise and white flowers are complemented by oaky spices and minerals. Bright and fresh in the mouth, showing lovely lift and clarity to the green apple, gooseberry and lime flavours. Finishes clean and very long, with vibrant acidity lifting and extending the bright flavors at the back. A very impressive wine with sneaky concentration and an impression of rising sweetness to its spicy oak and light torrefaction flavours.’ - Ian D’Agata, Vinous, 92/100 (Jul 2014)

‘Light yellow with greenish tints. Refined nose marrying vanilla, fresh oak, mild spices, lemon and exotic fruits. Excellent supple and warm attack with a fine-grained texture. Closely-integrated across the palate with a clean finish that is still muted.’ - Gilbert & Gaillard, 94/100 (May 2012)
