About this Item

2011 Beaune Clos des Mouches Rouge
3 (1 x 3) 750ml

In 1880, a 22-year-old Joseph Drouhin settled in Beaune and founded his own wine company. His son Maurice succeeded him and established a domaine for the Drouhin house by buying land in outstanding appellations including the famous Clos des Mouches and Clos de Vougeot. Today, 4th generation Véronique Drouhin continues the family’s prestigious Burgundy legacy. With 73 hectares of biodynamically-farmed vines, Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy’s largest estates. With vineyards in close to 90 different appellations, Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs.

Critics Ratings

‘Bright medium-deep red. Musky aromas of dark berries, licorice and minerals. Juicy, suave and fine-grained, with dark fruit flavours complicated by enticing subtle minerality and a whiff of game bird. Dry, classic wine with good density and depth. Finishing flavours of dark berries, flowers and minerals give lovely lift to the primary back end. Really refreshing stony energy here.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 90-92/100 (Jan 2013)

‘Bright crimson. Broad pretty fruit, very alluring and easy to love. Masses of fruit – such a spread! Already lovely. Very fine tannins on the end. Just a little kick of dryness on the finish but lovely mouth-filling stuff.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Nov 2012)
