About this Item
The Sabon family has a long history in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, tracing their roots back to 1540. However, the first wine bottled under the family name was in 1921. Domaine Roger Sabon was founded by the namesake in 1952 and is currently run by Roger’s sons, Denis and Gilbert. The estate consists of 50 hectares split up between Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Lirac, Côtes-du-Rhône and Vin de France. Robert Parker states: ‘this has long been one of my favorite estates in the Southern Rhône… The style here is a brilliant combination of the best traditional techniques married to a handful of modern nuances.’

Critics Ratings
‘Offers dark plum, fig and boysenberry fruit at the core, lined with perfumy notes of roasted bay leaf, chestnut and black tea. Ample grip lies underneath. Rock-solid for the vintage. Best from 2015 through 2030.’ - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 93/100 (Oct 2013)
‘70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre, 5% Counoise and Vaccarèse. Dark crimson. Opulent nose and then quite tight. Fades a little fast. But there is some energy here. Lots of sweetness. Then some sinewy tannins.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Dec 2012)
