About this Item
The Sabon family has a long history in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, tracing their roots back to 1540. However, the first wine bottled under the family name was in 1921. Domaine Roger Sabon was founded by the namesake in 1952 and is currently run by Roger’s sons, Denis and Gilbert. The estate consists of 50 hectares split up between Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Lirac, Côtes-du-Rhône and Vin de France. Robert Parker states: ‘this has long been one of my favorite estates in the Southern Rhône… The style here is a brilliant combination of the best traditional techniques married to a handful of modern nuances.’

Critics Ratings
‘The 2011 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Secret du Sabon shows the sunny character of the vintage with its perfumed kirsch and red fruits, herbes de Provence, licorice and ground spices. A big wine, it possesses full-bodied richness, fine tannin and a seamless, elegant style that will allow it to evolve gracefully for 15 years or more.’ - Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, 95/100 (Aug 2014)
‘Features linzer torte, boysenberry and blueberry coulis flavors allied to ample, silky and seamless structure and backed by a gorgeous perfumy finish of black tea and incense. Offers a beguiling, Pinot Noir-like profile, with lovely length and mouthfeel. Best from 2015 through 2030.’ - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 95/100 (Oct 2013)
