A pair of Japanese bronze models of warriors, Miyao Company, Meiji period, 1868-1912
each modelled in full dress standing in belligerent pose with feet apart, adorned with a necklace and a crown, with fierce expression, finely worked in iroe-hirazogan and takazogan with details embellished in gilt with flowerheads, scrolling foliage and mon, one with a detachable naginata sword in one hand, the other raised to his forehead, with a detachable sword secured to his opposing hip, the other holding a detachable associated staff, fitted on a rectangular hardwood stand lacquered in gold hiramaki-e with stylised dragons above a ho-o bird enclosed by scrolling foliage, signed with seal mark, lacking tip of naginata, the taller 26,7cm high including stand
