A pair of Japanese Imari dishes, Meiji period, 1868-1912
each of petal-shaped outline, the centre painted with a ho-o bird amongst scrolling foliage and stylised clouds, enclosed by a double blue-line, the border with eight alternating panels of a balustraded garden in iron-red with gilt highlights enclosed by a deep blue ground, the reverse painted with reishi and scrolling ribbons above a double blue-line, raised on a low foot, traces of gilding to the rim in areas, rim chip, 21,5cm diameter
