About this Item

2013 Pinotage
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Named after a legendary 19th-century Norwegian arctic expedition ship, these are wines of exploration, crafted by the enigmatic Thinus Kruger in the Swartland. His mission is to "always sail into unchartered waters, to boldly search for whatever great grapes lie over the next horizon."

Critics Ratings

'Ripe, with 14.5% alcohol, this is aged only in older oak. Very taut, ebony like nose of concentrated, deep fruit. Meaty, deep, a lot of dark fruit that suggests ripe berries and creamy blue/black fruit. Spicy and lovely in a big-boned, densely layered style.' - Tom Cannavan, 92/100 (Jan 2015)

'The oak is so old on this wine that it’s barely perceptible, softening its tannins rather than adding flavour to its well defined frame. Liquorice, red berries, some Asian spices and fine, palate-caressing tannins. Another supremely drinkable wine from Thinus Kruger.' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2015, 92/100
