About this Item
Ken Forrester Wines was established in the early 1990s after Johannesburg resident and restauranteur, Ken Forrester fell in love with this Stellenbosch property. Together with Martin Meinert, they audaciously created a flagship Chenin Blanc called FMC (Forrester, Meinert Chenin). Sourced from vines planted in 1967, it set the world benchmark for New World Chenin and started SA’s Chenin revolution.
We took a trip backwards in time to make a thoroughly modern wine. A wine that will age beautifully for at least the next ten years. A tribute hopefully to the age & concentration of the vines, as well as to low, very low interruptive winemaking… a natural wine in every sense! Finally bottled totally “naturally” with no cold stabilization or fining. Remarkably the wine is crystal clear, slightly golden in a good way, with a lime green rim.
How did I do that you ask?… Well it’s unfiltered, unrefined and just a Dirty Little Secret – naturally!

Critics Ratings
‘Ambitiously priced, but with more than enough favour and complexity in the bottle to justify it, Ken Forrester’s naturally fermented, skin contact, unfned and unfltered Chenin is some statement. Savoury, spicy and leesy, with understated oak, low alcohol, a hint of vanilla and thrilling, mineral-edged acidity, it’s his best release yet. Drink: 2016-25.’ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2016, 95/100
‘This is tight and reserved at first, needing time to open and reveal notes of green apple, lemon-lime citrus, yellow plum and underripe mango. Given those tight, bright aromas, it's surprising to encounter the medium-weight, round mouthfeel, with low acidity and ripe tones of guava and white grapefruit that carry through to the close’ - Lauren Buzzeo, Wine Enthusiast, 91/100 (Apr 2018)
