About this Item
L’Avenir is a leading Stellenbosch boutique winery that specialises in South Africa’s emblematic varietals: Pinotage and Chenin Blanc. Situated four kilometres from Stellenbosch on the slopes of Simonsberg Mountain, the estate is right in the heart of South Africa’s most revered wine appellation. Owned by the French leader of terroir wines, AdVini, L’Avenir produces authentic South African wines, with a touch of French flair. L’Avenir’s wines have gained a passionate following, locally and globally.
Produced from a vineyard that was planted in 1971, the L’Avenir Single Block Chenin Blanc unveils balance and complexity that is synonymous with old vines. Parcel selection in the vineyard and cellar, combined with minimum intervention winemaking, results in a true masterpiece.

Critics Ratings
'A wine that more than lives up to its stylish packaging, this is a finely judged, modern Chenin Blanc with well integrated barrel fermentation, impressive richness of pear and greengage fruit and a hint of peachy sweetness. Drink: 2016-20' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2016, 92/100
'Tangy 2015 exudes glacé pineapple, marzipan & sweet oak spice. Wood (some acacia) & fruit still negotiating roles in youth, but plenty of chenin concentration to ensure future harmony. 44 year old vines'- Platter's SA Wine Guide 2017, 4*
'This is in its infancy now, but it's remarkably refined and nuanced, showing great promise for evolution and development. Notes of melon rind, orange peel, lemon verbena and fresh fynbos fill the bouquet, while the palate offers more pithy citrus and green melon characters. It's well-balanced, with vibrant acidity and a fresh wet-stone minerality that endures through the long finish. It's hard to resist now, but it will continue to mature and hold well through 2024.' - Lauren Buzzeo, Wine Enthusiast, 92/100 (Apr 2018)
