About this Item
Luce della Vite is a producer in Montalcino, Tuscany. Despite its position within the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG zone, the estate is best known for for its Luce wine, a combination of Sangiovese and Merlot that, on its debut in 1993, was one of the very first Super Tuscans from the region. Luce della Vite also make a Brunello di Montalcino wine, which has garnered a lot of critical acclaim, including perfect 100-point ratings from James Suckling for the 2006 and 2010 vintages. Luce della Vite was founded in the early 1990s as a collaboration between Robert Mondavi and Marchesi de' Frescobaldi. Ownership passed entirely to Lamberto Frescobaldi in 2002.

Critics Ratings
‘Saturated red. Strong oak influence to the aromas of violet, cherry skin and licorice. Juicy, pure and tightly wound, with a penetrating quality to the dark berry skin, coffee and dark chocolate flavors. Surprisingly perfumed for a wine with such high alcohol. Finishes very long and sweet, with powerful tooth-coating tannins and a strong impression of extract. Lay this one down.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 92+/100 (Jun 2011)
‘This beautiful wine (gorgeous both in terms of execution and presentation) offers rich layers of mature fruit, chocolate, espresso and exotic spice. The wine's texture is incredibly smooth, soft and persistent.’ - Wine Enthusiast, 93/100 (Apr 2011)
