About this Item
Salvioni is a leader in the cult Brunello genre, along with the likes of Soldera and Biondi-Santi. Based in Montalcino, Salvioni owns one of the commune’s best and most well-recognized crus – ‘La Cerbaiola’ – in the southeast of Brunello di Montalcino. While only a mere 4-hectare plot of old, low-yielding vines, Giulio Salvioni and his strict standards produce one of the region’s greatest, most sought-after wines from this site. The winemaking is kept traditional and simple. Known for their incredible purity, elegance and long-ageing structure, Salvioni’s small-batch wines are a true triumph for artisanal winemaking in the region.

Critics Ratings
‘Salvioni makes stunning wines that appeal to die-hard Brunello fanatics. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino La Cerbaiola shows enormous purity, varietal personality and beautifully balanced intensity. The wine hits all of your senses at once. The bouquet offers red cherry, licorice, dried rosemary, ginger and cola. You taste the most elegant, delicate and ethereal notes that can be extracted from Sangiovese. The tannins are super fine and the texture is silky and supple. This is an iconic wine.’ - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 98/100 (Mar 2016)
‘The 2010 comes across as refined and polished, with veins of bright acidity that give the wines its sense of energy, drive and polish. Over the last few months, the 2010 has begun to close in on itself. I can't say that is surprising given how much stuffing there is. Readers lucky enough to own the 2010 are in for a real treat. When all is said and done, the 2010 is profound and riveting in every way.’ - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 98/100 (May 2016)
