Wine: Italy and Spain
About this Item
Marc de Grazia is the owner and founder of Tenuta Delle Terre Nere and considered by many to be the pioneer in putting the region of Etna on the map. He was the driving force behind convincing the Italian wine industry the value of demarcating Contrada within their wine producing areas. Marc is a big fan of this classification system and has integrated the model into his own lineup. According to Robert Parker, ‘Terre Nere’s wines all possessed unbelievable freshness and complexity as well as huge perfumes that suggested Pinot Noir…These wines are astonishingly complex and ethereal efforts from the hillsides of Mt. Etna in Sicily.’ Together with the ethereal Burgundian-like reds, Terre Nere also produces finely textured, powerful whites.

Critics Ratings
‘Red berry, menthol, grilled sage, leather and a whiff of oak lead the nose. The palate boasts a weightless concentration, offering raspberry compote, oak-driven spice, white pepper, licorice and a mineral vein that weave together around a backbone of fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Drink 2019–2029.’ - Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, 94/100 (Sept 2016)
‘Very deep and rich and round. Massive broad stuff. Rich and tense. But it seems much richer and deeper than the other Terre Nere wines tasted at the same time.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 18/20 (May 2016)
