About this Item
In 1962, Ridge made its first Monte Bello, and two years later its first zinfandel. Since that time, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, searching California for those rare and exceptional vineyards where climate, soil, and variety are ideally matched. For more than six decades, Ridge has been recognized by top critics, chefs and peers for consistent quality and steadfast approach to winemaking. Ridge is the largest farmer of organically certified grapes in Sonoma County and the Santa Cruz Mountains Appellation.
The Geyserville Vineyard is located in the Alexander Valley appellation of Sonoma County. This region is known for its warm climate and diverse soil types, which are well-suited to growing Zinfandel and other Mediterranean varieties. It is primarily a Zinfandel-based field blend produced from old vines grown.

Critics Ratings
‘Aromatic on the nose; thick and dense on the palate. I felt, tasting this wine blind, that there were slightly more obvious tannins than in the wine that turned out to be 1999 Lytton Springs. Very dry finish still. Lots still to give even though the wine is already more than 10 years old.’ – Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com, 18/20 (Mar 2010)
‘A ripe, rich, earthy style, with waxy wild berry, black cherry, blackberry, herb and minty notes. Turns a bit rustic on the finish, but the finish rings true with lively flavors. Zinfandel, Carignane and Petite Sirah.’ - James Laube, Wine Spectator
