About this Item
Torbreck was established in 1994 and is located at Marananga on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley in South Australia. It was named by its founder, David Powell, after a forest situated in the Highlands of Scotland. Torbreck’s first wines were released in 1997, most notably the flagship 1995 Runrig (Shiraz/Viognier) and have accrued local and international acclaim since its debut. The winery was named one of the World's Top 100 Wine Estates by Robert Parker. Today production is overseen by Senior Winemaker Craig Isbel and his team. The overwhelming majority of their vines are dry-grown, nearly all are 100 - 165 years old and are tended and harvested by hand. The wines have an extraordinary combination of power, intensity, complexity and great finesse.
As one of Torbreck Vintners' key wines, The Steading is known for its Rhone-style blend that emphasizes the rich and complex characteristics of the region's old vines. The grapes for The Steading are sourced from some of the oldest and most revered vineyards in the Barossa Valley, including bush vines that are often over 50 years old.
