About this Item
Described as one of the world’s most beautiful vineyards, the 146 hectares of Klein Constantia originally formed part of "Constantia", a vast property established in 1685 by Simon van der Stel, the first governor of the Cape. This particular valley was chosen not only for its beauty, but also for the decomposed granite soils on its slopes, gently cooled by ocean breezes. The property behind the iconic Vin de Constance has pedigree and provenance that stretches widely beyond sweet wine.
The re-creation of the legendary Constantia wine made in the 18th and 19th centuries, sought after by Napoleon, the aristocracy of Europe, King George IV and King Louis Philippe and praised by Charles Dickens, Jane Austen and Baudelaire!

Critics Ratings
'Even better than the 2014 release - and that was a spectacular sweet wine - the 2015 Vin de Constance is one of the greatest ever vintages of this iconic sticky. More Barsac than Sauternes in terms of weight, it’s fresh and refined, a bit like the 2012, with citrus and orange zest balancing the 172 grams of sugar. The oak is perfectly judged, the length and freshness things of wonder. 2019-30.' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 98/100
'Iconic reprise of legendary 18th-century Constantia sweet wine, eagerly awaited 2015 is spectacular. Muscat de Frontignan, harvested through the season as ripe berries (for acidity) & raisins (for sugar concentration), delivers fragrant aromatic spices, honeyed floral highlights & piercing freshness, all in perfect balance & harmony.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2020, 5* (95/100)
‘This is world class with lovely floral, spicy, marmalade, barley sugar, apricot and crème brûlée aromatics. The palate brings lively acidity and layers of delightful fruity flavours. Incredibly long.’ - Decanter World Wine Awards, 96/100
‘This sweetie features a gorgeous bouquet of orange blossom and juniper flavors, while the mouthfilling palate carries dried mango and candied apricot notes, accented by hints of quince paste, honeysuckle and sweetened green tea. Rich and intense, but with piercing acidity delivering balance. Long and complex. Drink now through 2030.’ - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 93/100
