'More robust, angular and incomplete than 2015, needing time to integrate. But the promise of pedigree is there to allow the wine the benefit of time. A hallmark of the Storm Pinots is brightness and freshness across the range and vintages. Allow 2-3 years for the 2016 Ridge. ' - Higgo Jacobs (Feb 2022)
'Another brooder needing time. 2016 deep, sweet perfumed fruit with savoury complexity, yet fairly austere in youth. Touch less mid-palate conviction than Vrede, and less tannic. These all 25% new oak. Pinots all natural ferment, 10-15% whole bunch, no fining/filtration. Also in magnum.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2019, 4.5* (93/100)
'Appropriately enough, Ridge comes from a cool, late-picked site at 340 metres on the Hemel en Aarde Ridge, influenced by cool sea breezes. It's a taut, tight, tangy Pinot Noir, with crunchy black cherry fruit, some clove spice from 10% whole bunches and a saline undertone. 2019-25.' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2017, 94/100
