South African 1992-
Threads & Traces, 2023
the cotton and lambswool panel woven in shades of cream and beige
389 by 88cm

Notes

This work was the final large piece from the body of work Depth Perception. It is woven in a weave structure called “shadow weave”, in natural off-white cotton, the pattern only emerges upon closeup inspection. It was woven as an antidote, a calm moment, after a strong focus on colour and saturation in its companion pieces. There are subtle moments of colour woven through, and they in turn allow for a moment of rest for the eye.

Exhibited

SMAC Gallery, Cape Town, Depth Perception 2022.

Oude Leeskamer, Stellenbosch, Chromatic Horizons 2023.
