About this Item

2014 Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Boekenhoutskloof, located in the Franschhoek valley, was established in 1776 and gets its name 'Boekenhout' from an indigenous Beech tree. Boekenhoutskloof, managed by Marc Kent, describes themself as a Syrah specialist. Their efforts in conservation can be seen through initiatives they have taken-on in their farm and surrounding areas. They are also a founding member of the Franschhoek Mountain Conservancy.

Made from selected parcels of Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards planted on the north-western facing slopes of the Helderberg mountain and south-eastern facing slope of the Polkadraai Hills.

Critics Ratings

‘Sleek, supple and structured 2014, also with a dash of Cabernet Franc, all Helderberg fruit. Elegant, with cocoa-tinged blue and black fruit. Lighter, leaner, less muscular and dense than the Franschhoek version. Oak (60% new) a spicy, nutty presence. Great persistence.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2017, 4.5*

‘A first release of a Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon from Boekenhoutskloof, sourced from four parcels on the Helderberg, all of them planted with new, unvirused clones. Rich, complex and well balanced, this is a very stylish debut, showing subtle spices, pure blackberry fruit and impressive focus.’ - Tim Atkin SA Special Report 2016, 94/100

'A rock-solid Cabernet, with a core of red currant paste and warm raspberry coulis flavors, woven with light savory and iron notes. The finish is nicely polished and the toast well-integrated. The fruit sails through. Debut vintage for this bottling. Drink now through 2022.' - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Mar 2017)
