About this Item
Jean-Paul Jamet is arguably the leading producer in Côte-Rôtie and his approach has not changed over more than 40 vintages. He continues to produce hauntingly beautifully, but remarkably traditional wines. The wines of Domaine Jamet appeal to wine lovers around the world seeking classic, tensioned wines that show honesty and the soil in which they are grown. One of the most traditional wine producers in Cote-Rôtie, Jean-Paul blends 25 parcels, mostly from the Côte Brune, and uses little new oak and most of the stems. His maturations are longer than most and his wines are released later than other producers. Jean-Paul is slowly handing over custodianship of one of France’s great domaines to his son, Loïc.

Critics Ratings
2012 - ‘(100% syrah): Brilliant ruby. Sexy dark berry and floral scents, along with hints of licorice and bitter chocolate. Juicy and seamless in texture, offering spice-accented blueberry and bitter cherry flavors and a suave floral pastille quality. The floral element builds on the persistent finish, which is framed by smooth tannins. Jean-Paul Jamet told me that this wine, which is a great introduction to the house style at a gentle price, gets essentially the same cellar treatment as the Cote-Rotie but is bottled earlier.’ - Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 90/100 (April 2014)
2013 -‘Opaque ruby. Intense aromas of blueberry, black pepper and licorice show very good lift and clarity. Sappy and broad on entry, then tighter in the mid-palate, offering juicy dark fruit flavors that pick up a spicy element with aeration. Fine-grained tannins give shape to the long, appealingly sweet finish, with the peppery note echoing. This wine is a fantastic introduction to the Jamet style at a very easy price.’ - Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 90/100 (Dec 2014)
