About this Item
Rene Rostaing produced his first wine in 1971, but it took almost 3 decades before wine became a full time occupation. Through inheritance from Albert Dervieux Thaize, his father-in-law who retired in 1990, and from Marius Gentaz Dervieux, his uncle, Rene Rostaing was able to expand his Northern Rhone holdings, giving him some of the best terroir in Côte Rôtie. Rene Rostaing remains a traditional Côte Rôtie producer and there are few better on this historic slope.
Côte-Rôtie is renowned for its Syrah-based red wines, which are often characterized by their elegance, complexity, and age-worthiness. The "Côte Blonde" vineyard is one of the most prestigious sites within the Côte-Rôtie appellation, known for producing wines of exceptional finesse and aromatic complexity.

Critics Ratings
‘‘Very different from the Landonne. Much broader with smudgy violets appeal. A little hint of La Tâche on this funnily enough! Racy and delicate, but by no means underripe or skinny. Rostaing seems to have done a great job on this vintage. Really fresh finish, like Landonne. Feminine, but with some pretty fierce tannins underneath. Actually fuller than the Landonne and definitely more tannic.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 18/20 (Dec 2008)
Focused, with good peppery drive pushing the tobacco, mulled currant and sandalwood notes. A tangy grilled herb edge helps extend the medium-weight finish, which has nice underlying grip. Best from 2011 through 2018.’ - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 90/100
