About this Item
Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau is one of the flagship wines of Vieux Télégraphe. It is crafted from a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault grapes sourced from the La Crau vineyard, which is renowned for its galets roulés soil, large, round stones that retain heat and provide excellent drainage.

Critics Ratings
'One of the most age-worthy cuvees in the appellation, Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe’s 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape was gorgeous on this occasion, showing classic iodine, seaweed and peppery herbs intermixed with layers of sweet currant, plum and blackberry fruits. Full-bodied, powerful and ripe, with a still youthful profile, this beauty won’t hit full maturity for another 3-4 years, and should hold for a decade or more after that.' - Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, 95/100 (Feb 2015)
'Transparent crimson. Lots of ripe fruit and pepper. Cool finish. Very easy to like and complete, though there are the drying tannins of 2009 here too.' - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Oct 2010
'This is dense and chewy, but not tiring to drink, thanks to fresh acidity and an edgy, gravelly feel that drives the blackberry, currant and sweet spice notes. The long finish has great briary grip, with notes of garrigue and hot stone checking in. Best from 2010 through 2030.' - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 95/100 (Apr 2008)
'Explosively perfumed nose offers seductive raspberry, kirsch and floral scents, with a suave mineral underpinning. Extremely fresh, with precise red fruit and floral pastille flavors strongly reminiscent of a broad-shouldered Pinot Noir. Finishes with outstanding clarity, sweetness and persistence.' - Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 93/100 (Jan 2008)
