About this Item

2001 Pauillac
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Chateau Pontet-Canet is a large Pauillac estate that can trace its origins back to 1725 and is today owned by the Tesseron family whom also own Lafon Rochet. Pontet-Canet's 78 hectares of vineyards adjoin those of Mouton Rothschild and are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (63%), Merlot (32%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). The Tesserons have vastly improved the quality of the Pontet-Canet wines which are now full-bodied and packed with ripe, black fruits and finely integrated tannins.

Critics Ratings

'Focused, with a still-juicy edge to the mix of black currant and black cherry compote flavors, which are giving way steadily to mouthwatering tobacco and iron notes and refined singed cedar threads through the finish. Textbook Pauillac.’ - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Dec 2017)

'Very solid, thick Pauillac nose. Lots of matter here. This is the Ghislaine Barthod of the Médoc! Masses of density though not a lot of lift. Fresh finish.' - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Mar 2012)

Fresh and very youthful still with currants, flowers and liquorice character. Full body with fine tannins and a racy, fine finish. Drink now and enjoy.’ - James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, 92/100
