The estate’s history dates all the way back to the mid 1700 and Vieux Château Certan is one of the oldest Pomerol properties. Located on the top of the Pomerol plateau it is directly across the street from Certan de May and not far from Petrus, Lafleur and Le Pin. Having produced some of the most legendary wines from the mid 20th century, today VCC is widely considered in the top tier of all Bordeaux and quintessential Pomerol.

"Vieux Château Certan 1997 is the reflection of the patient work of the vine grower: a vintage that can be compared with the crus of 1985 and 1994 in terms of structure, finesse and tannin… It is above all, an original wine, with a precocious charm that you will appreciate, after decanting, a beautiful ruby colour, aromatic wealth dominated by raspberry and violet, intense fruits. Once again, this vintage is witness to my desire to create exceptional wine that will reach maturity between 2005 and 2007." - Vieux Chateau Certan
