About this Item
The late Gianfranco Soldera was undoubtably Montalcino’s most celebrated wine producer. Originally from Treviso, Gianfranco came to Tuscany in the ‘70s with his wife Graziella to obtain the best vineyards. He settled on the 23-hectare estate of Case Basse, 320 metres above sea level, with a perfect south-western exposure. Devoted to the traditional methods of farming and winemaking, Gianfranco was relentless in his constant pursuit of improvement, perfection and innovation and was also a revered pioneer of organic viticulture in the region. Known for their remarkable complexity, elegance, natural finesse and ability to age for decades, the legendary wines of Case Basse are the standard-bearers for organic, sustainable wine production.
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is the highest expression of Sangiovese from the estate, made from carefully selected grapes sourced from the oldest vines in the vineyard. Riserva wines typically undergo longer aging in oak barrels and bottle before release, resulting in wines of exceptional complexity, depth, and aging potential.

Critics Ratings
‘A good dose of air coaxes out the maturing aromas and flavors of sandalwood, leather, underbrush, sweet cherry and mineral. This intriguing red displays lightness and elegance without sacrificing structure or intensity. Features a savory finish. Best from 2015 through 2032’ – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 94/100 (May 2013)
‘Soldera’s 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva has been utterly gorgeous on the many times I have tasted it. Expressive, floral and impeccably perfumed, the 2006 Riserva is surprisingly mid-weight and gracious in this vintage. Layers of sweet fruit with Burgundian overtones emerge as the wine gains depth and volume in the glass. Today, the 2006 is a delicate Brunello from Soldera rather than a powerhouse, but then again, these wines have a way of putting on weight in the bottle. I can’t wait to see how the 2006 develops over the coming years.’ – Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, 95+/100 (Jun 2013)
