Founded in 1980 by Mariano García in memory of his father, Bodegas Mauro is situated halfway along the River Duero, in the town of Tudela. Since the very beginning, Bodegas Mauro has been committed to excellence and producing age-worthy wines that express the quality and identity of their terroir. The property’s vineyards are spread across 90 hectares with an average vine age of 35 years and yields of between 3,000 – 5,000 kilograms per hectare. The grapes are grown on bush vines and planted on light, easy-to-work calcareous clay soils. The estate’s top-quality, limited-production reds are well known for their balance, elegance and long ageing potential.
Mauro produce wines under the Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León designation, which allows winemakers in the Castilla y León region to create wines outside the strict regulations of specific appellations like Ribera del Duero or Toro.

‘The floral and cool-climate, balanced and fresh 2013 Mauro is a lot less extracted and oaked than in some vintages in the past; it is a lot more transparent and precise. The wine is round with very good freshness, and lighter than other vintages. The palate is fresh and with great balance and acidity. The classical Mauro consumers that want concentrated and powerful wines might be disappointed, but for those looking for a more drinkable Mauro, you will be delighted with this 2013.
