Critics Ratings
‘The 2001 Torre Muga is an undeniably great wine. Still a deep purple color, on the palate it is densely packed, rich, and structured for the long haul. Give it another 8-10 years of cellaring and drink it through 2041.’ - Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, 97/100
‘Full ruby-red. Deep, smoky, lightly roasted aromas of black plum, minerals and licorice. Full, round and sweet, with highly complex plum, cinnamon and smoky oak flavors perfectly framed by strong but harmonious acidity. Fat, broad and wonderfully deep. Finishes with outstanding palate-saturating persistence and great lingering sweetness. This wine spends nearly two years in large American oak vats, then another 16 months in new French barriques.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 95/100 (Sep 2005)
‘A bold, mouthfilling red with ripe, generous flavors of plum and black raspberry and notes of coffee, soy and tobacco. The tannins are well-integrated, and lively acidity lifts the flavors. Drink now through 2010.’ - Thomas Matthews, Wine Spectator, 90/100
