Vega Sicilia was founded in 1864 by the Don Eloy Lecanda y Chaves and is widely considered as Spain’s leading wine producer! The Alvarez family took over in 1982 providing more consistent quality in their wines over the years. They produce three wines Unico, Valbuena 5° and Vega Sicilia Unico Reserva Especial from their 210 hectares of vines. Their estate in Ribera del Duero is known for its dense, complex red wines made principally from the Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grape variety and produces, Unico, is one of Spain's most expensive and sought-after wines.
Ground-breaking and independent, and the result of the evolution of a famous family of great wines - Vega Sicilia. Recognised, distinguished and praised for the authenticity of its temperament, Alión today symbolises a universal and forward—looking spirit. The wines are made from Tempranillo grapes, with some Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, sourced from Vega Sicilia's own vineyards in Ribera del Duero. Vega Sicilia Alion 2009 is the quality and elegance associated with both the producer and the exceptional 2009 vintage in Ribera del Duero.
