Vega Sicilia was founded in 1864 by the Don Eloy Lecanda y Chaves and is widely considered as Spain’s leading wine producer! The Alvarez family took over in 1982 providing more consistent quality in their wines over the years. They produce three wines Unico, Valbuena 5° and Vega Sicilia Unico Reserva Especial from their 210 hectares of vines. Their estate in Ribera del Duero is known for its dense, complex red wines made principally from the Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grape variety and produces, Unico, is one of Spain's most expensive and sought-after wines.
The Unico Reserva Especial is a special edition wine crafted from select vintages and is considered the pinnacle of Vega Sicilia's production. Each release is a blend of different vintages, carefully selected to achieve a unique and outstanding expression of the estate's terroir and winemaking philosophy. Due to its limited production and high demand, Vega Sicilia Unico Reserva Especial Vta 2010 is considered a collector's item and is highly sought after by wine enthusiasts around the world.
