About this Item
Joh. Jos. Prüm is easily one of Germany's most famous wine producers. The estate is based in the village of Wehlen on the banks of the Mosel, and produces top-quality Rieslings that are noted for their balance and longevity. J.J. Prüm's wines are highly collectable. The Prüm family has been making wine in the Mosel for several hundred years, but Joh. Jos. Prüm was founded properly in 1911, by Johann Josef Prüm. The estate was taken over by his brother Sebastian in 1920, the year that Joh. Jos. Prüm created its first sweet Auslese wine, and from there went on to become one of Germany's most well-known and highly respected wines. It has remained in the family since.
The Graacher Himmelreich vineyard is one of the prized vineyard sites owned by Joh. Jos. Prüm. It is situated on steep slopes with blue slate soils, which impart a distinctive minerality and complexity to the Riesling grapes grown there. Kabinett is a classification in German winemaking that indicates a wine made from fully ripened grapes with natural sweetness and lower alcohol content.

Critics Ratings
‘Amazingly youthful on the nose. Piercing acidity but lovely bright fruit too. And so delicate! Featherlight and fresh as a mountain stream. Dry finish. Grainy texture.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (March 2019)
‘Elegant and stylish, revealing floral, lime, slate and saline notes allied to a gossamer frame. There's an intensity that dissipates slowly, with a mouthwatering aftertaste. Drink now through 2022.’ - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 91/100
