About this Item
In 1880, a 22-year-old Joseph Drouhin settled in Beaune and founded his own wine company. His son Maurice succeeded him and established a domaine for the Drouhin house by buying land in outstanding appellations including the famous Clos des Mouches and Clos de Vougeot. Today, 4th generation Véronique Drouhin continues the family’s prestigious Burgundy legacy. With 73 hectares of biodynamically-farmed vines, Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy’s largest estates. With vineyards in close to 90 different appellations, Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs.
Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche is one of the most renowned Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy, located in the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune. It is famous for producing exceptional white wines made from Chardonnay grapes, renowned for their richness, complexity, and aging potential.

Critics Ratings
‘Most examples of this wine have left me relatively unmoved but a recent bottle was decidedly better than most of them that I have tried because of the freshness and depth. I have had this wine perhaps 15 times with most of them displaying an understated nose of white flowers and a touch of botrytis introduces medium weight flavors that offer good distinction but not necessarily great concentration or depth. There is solid length and to be sure, this is a classy drink but ultimately, one is left wanting more. Perhaps the complexity that is presently missing will develop with a few more years of bottle age. 89/now+ Note: while clearly fresher in magnum, it is also displaying some distinct age and I would be inclined to be drinking it as well though without the same urgency. Also, the score of 92 refers to the best example that I have tried.’ - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 92/100 (March 2010)
‘Subtle and classy, this wine is supple with near-perfect balance and spice, ripe fruit, toasted bread and mineral flavors that linger for minutes on the great, racy finish. Full-bodied.’ - Wine Spectator
