About this Item

2015 Bourgogne
3 (1 x 3) 750ml

Domaine Méo-Camuzet is one of Burgundy’s star properties and is known for its concentrated, rich and serious wines. Until 30 years ago, most of the domaine's vineyards were leased out and the wine was sold to négociants. The domaine only began bottling in 1985 and the various sharecropping agreements, including one with Henri Jayer, have all come to an end. Today, Jean-Nicolas Méo and Christian Faurois, a former sharecropper turned right-hand man, manage the domaine and produce some of the Côte d'Or’s finest wines. The domaine now proudly holds 2.5 hectares of Grands Crus and 8 hectares in some of the finest Premier Cru sites in Nuits-St-Georges and Vosne-Romanée. Most of the vineyards are farmed organically.

Bourgogne, refers to wines made from Pinot Noir grapes sourced from vineyards throughout the broader Burgundy region. While Bourgogne wines are typically considered entry-level offerings, those produced by esteemed producers like Méo-Camuzet often exceed expectations and showcase the producer's commitment to quality and terroir expression. The 2015 vintage in Burgundy was highly acclaimed, characterized by favorable weather conditions throughout the growing season.

Critics Ratings

‘The 2015 Bourgogne Rouge has a pleasant crushed strawberry and red cherry nose that is candied in style. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, just a little coarseness on the finish, but another racking and it will be fine.’ - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (Dec 2016)

‘A super fresh and bright nose features notes of various red berries and a whisper of earth that is picked up by the attractively textured and vibrant flavors that possess an unusually refined mouth feel relative to what is typical for the genre. I like the complexity and there is enough structure to suggest that this should keep well too. Recommended as it would make for a good all-around house red.’ - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com (Jan 2017)
