Critics Ratings

‘Broad and unfinished. Dense and wild. Wonderful array of flowery flavours. Broad and marzipan and really gorgeous. It will reduce and tighten up but for the moment it’s a great fun. Long.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 18+/20 (Jan 2016)

‘Pale green-yellow. Laid-back, mineral-driven aromas of white peach and white flowers convey a light touch. Densely packed and penetrating but with nothing heavy about it, boasting outstanding definition to its flavors of white stone fruits, flowers, anise and noble herbs. This wine's inner-mouth aromatic lift is rare for young Batard. A note of chicken-soup reduction comes late. This utterly seamless wine boasts an element of sweetness that makes it deceptively accessible now but I'd rather wait at least five years.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 95/100 (June 2016)

‘A broad, rich and powerful style, featuring butterscotch, toasted brioche, peach and lemon aromas and flavors. A hint of nut oil adds extra intensity as this cruises into a long, juicy aftertaste. Best from 2020 through 2032.’ - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 95/100

‘The 2014 Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru, from the Chassagne side from 75-year-old vines, has a precise, understated, mineral-driven bouquet with a distant tang of oyster shell. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, harmonious in the mouth with a keen thread of minerality with a pixelated finish that lingers in the mouth. What a succinct expression of this grand cru from Pierre-Yves.’ - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 92-94/100

‘Moderate reduction again flattens the nose yet the underlying fruit still seems to be ripe. Otherwise there is even more size, weight and richness to the big-bodied flavors that also possess an abundance of dry extract that imparts a lush mouth feel to the palate coating and highly persistent finish that is no longer than that of the Corton-Charlemagne but it is slightly more complex. Here too I strongly advise at least some patience.’ - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 92-94/100 (Jun 2016)
