About this Item
Maison Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is a Burgundy producer based in the Côte de Beaune. It is known for its fine Chardonnay wines, and has most of its vineyard holdings in Saint-Aubin. The estate was established in 2005 by husband and wife Pierre-Yves Colin and Catherine Morey, both children of esteemed Burgundy winemakers. Colin had been winemaker at his family's winery since 1995 and in 2001 had started a négociant business with his wife. He left the family estate to establish his own label with a 6-hectare (15-acre) inheritance, the rest of the Colin vineyards going to his three siblings.
Corton-Charlemagne is one of the most prestigious Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy, located in the Côte de Beaune sub region. It is renowned for producing some of the finest white wines in the world, particularly from the Chardonnay grape variety.

Critics Ratings
‘Very rich nose. Then fine and sculpted palate. Lots of texture and only a notch ‘better’ than his finest premiers crus. Quite spicy and broad but still quite austere and lots to chew on.’ - Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson, 17.5+/20 (Nov 2015)
'(half from Pernand and half from Aloxe; the 2013 was entirely from Aloxe-Corton as the Pernand fruit "was killed by hail"; very late malo here): Pale yellow. High-pitched aromas of lime, minerals, wild herbs and lavender. Dense, thick and classically dry, showing a slightly buttery quality in the middle palate and a distinctly tannic impression on the long finish. This has the breadth and structure of a red wine and is almost painful in the early going.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 92-94/100
‘The cool and restrained nose only grudgingly offers up notes of green apple, lemon and wet stone scents. The broad-shouldered flavors possess outstanding richness and serious volume as the mid-palate brims with mouth coating dry extract before culminating in a tension-filled, balanced and wonderfully persistent, indeed even explosive finish. Note well that at least some patience is strongly advised.’ - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 91-94/100
‘The 2014 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru is a blend of Pernand and Aloxe-Corton fruit, whereas the previous vintage was just the latter due to hail damage. Interestingly, Pierre-Yves told me that he always picks both sites on the same date (around September 15). It has a clean and precise bouquet, although like many, it just seems to lack the animation, the minerality of some of the fine premier cru sites in the Côte de Beaune. The palate is nicely balanced with a keen thread of acidity, though it just seems to attenuate a little towards the finish.’ - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate
