Domaine Roulot produces some of the top Meursaults, if not some of the top white wines in Burgundy. Located in the Côte de Beaune, this small family domaine has Guy Roulot to thank for its success. Guy was also a pioneer in the region when it came to bottling single-vineyards separately. Guy passed away in 1982 and his son, Jean-Marc, left his acting career to take over in 1989. In the early 1990s, Jean-Marc steered the vineyards towards organic farming and obtained organic certification in 2013. The domaine consists of 15 hectares of village and premier cru vineyards and produces 17 different wines. Despite being one of the most sought-after producers in Burgundy, Jean-Marc’s intentions remain humble, focusing on the wines rather than expansion.

Meursault Les Vireuils is one of the premier vineyard sites in Meursault, known for its limestone and clay soils, which impart distinctive characteristics to the wines produced there. Domaine Roulot's expression of Meursault Les Vireuils typically showcases the purity of fruit, minerality, and elegance associated with the wines from this esteemed appellation.

‘Slightly reduced aromas of soft citrus fruits and toasted bread. Ripe, round and nicely balanced; classically dry but not austere, with a flavor of orange dominating the palate. Not yet complex but offers lovely texture. Roulot bottled his 2007s between January and March of 2009, after storing them in cuves for five or six months. Incidentally his Bourgogne blanc, bottled in March, offers lovely floral lift and bright acid cut, and reminded me of a baby Meursault.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (Sep 2009)
